Monday 12th November

It’s feeling well winter at the moment so November’s thigh-slapping happening above the Red Deer is replete with cockle-warming chuckle-wranglers upon which you may feast your eyes below. Before you do that though, please note that the author of this preamble is quite aware of how clumsily contrived the prose is, and that thigh-slapping is a little over the top really and hearty guffaws are ample responses for our talented guests:

Alex BoardmanAlex Boardman

Since sauntering onto the scene with aplomb in the late 90s, Boardman’s sharp-wittedness has been licensed by an easy charm that has made him one of the most sought-after comedians on the circuit. A versatile talent with an inclination towards the anecdotal and a predilection for the provocative, Boardman’s beguiling poise as a performer and deftness as a writer have earned him accolades and success in television and radio as well as on stage.

‘A rare mixture of wit and charm’ – The Guardian

‘A great comic and a skilled writer’ – Sarah Millican

‘Call the cops, double, double funny’ – Shaun Ryder

‘A veteran of the Madchester phenomenon, his loved-up reminisces and tall tales can lead anywhere on any given night’ – The Times

Katie MulgrewKatie Mulgrew

Energetically and charismatically witty with a hint of cynicism behind her bonhomie, Mulgrew is fast becoming a very welcome face on stages up and down the country, and has provided regular support for the award winning ‘The Boy With Tape On His Face’ during his recent UK theatre tours. With gleeful warmth and a wicked gleam in her eye, her playful rapport and engaging narratives make her very entertaining company indeed.

‘Very likable and funny’ – Lancashire Telegraph

‘So entertaining’ – Chortle
