Monday 13th August

It’s that time of year when all the idiot comedians flock to Edinburgh and the shrewd ones stay home just hoping that they’ll get to come to the Red Deer and hang out with all the cool cake eating cats at Square Hole (that’s you, that is). So here’s a little about August’s sweet, moist mouthful of mirth.

Marty McLean

Marty Mclean has been touring across North America and Europe for the past 12 years with his darkly observational blend of humour. He has performed at the Improv, the world famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles, the Comic Strip in New York, and has also appeared at numerous festivals from Montreal’s Just For Laughs to the Colonge Comedy Festival.

‘A unique comedian of extraordinary ability’
Rick Bronson, The Comic Strip

‘Truly sticks out as an extraordinary peformer, a true pofessional in the performing arts’
Brent Schiess, Montreal Just For Laughs

Danny Sutcliffe

Claiming to have been forced into comedy at gunpoint by Ken Dodd, Sutcliffe has been climbing the comedy ladder like Donkey Kong with a massive moustache and a complete disregard for barrels. But he might be more of a Mario given the tash and that his career plan is to qualify as a plumber, so this might be your only chance to enjoy his stand up before he’s tickling u-bends. For now he’s enjoying regular praise as one of the most exciting up and coming acts in the North.

‘he’s got the talent to make things happen on stage’
