Monday 11th May

May’s Square Hole will be super sweet. When informed of this line-up, the comedy savvy say things such as ‘oooh’ and ‘nice’ and ‘that’ll be amazing’ and ‘there’ll still be cookies, right?’. Here it is:

Bec Hill

Bec HillBec Hill possesses a refreshing blend of charm, whimsy and infectious enthusiasm which has gained a cult following in both Australia and the UK. But what makes her unique is her skilful ability to bring her ‘arts and craft’ imagination to life on stage. She has received the highest critical acclaim both in Australia where, aged 19, she reached the final of a nationally televised comedy competition, and in the UK where her Edinburgh shows have received 5 star reviews. On her YouTube channel, where she garners hundreds of thousands of views, she even managed to turn an unsuccessful audition for a tampon ad into a viral video. She is singularly talented and supremely funny.

‘A comic wonderwoman.’ – Rip It Up

‘Bec is an act to watch out for.’ – Chortle

‘…she has talent to burn and is a star in the making.’ – Hairline:fringe

‘..it is a joy to see someone so happy with life, someone who is so giving, someone who, if you are having a bad day, can lift your spirits up easily within minutes of entering the room.’ – The Times

Jonny Pelham

Jonny PelhamJonny began his stand up career at University and whilst there finished runner-up in both the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny? competition as well as The Chortle Student Comedy Awards. Since leaving University he has continued to impress and was recently a finalist and Judges’ Choice in the BBC Radio New Comedy Awards, as well as being nominated for Chortle Best Newcomer in 2014. Jonny can be seen gigging all around the country from The Invisible Dot’s New Wave to Latitude Festival and beyond. A thoughtful and compelling comedian with a knack for understated yet explosive punchlines, Jonny is a very welcome returnee to the Red Deer.
