Monday 14th September

We’re back! After our summer hiatus we return with new and familiar comic brilliance and baked goods. After a bit of a post-fringe breather our line-up will no doubt bring back some of that comedic passion from Edinburgh. Or possibly be defeated to their very cores. Either way, it’ll be entertaining to witness.

Michael J Dolan

Michael J DolanDolan has been a very welcome face at Square Hole for some time now. He is a truly distinctive voice in British comedy with exquisitely written material replete with deeply satisfying hyperbole and catharsis inducing honesty. Having just completed a wonderful run at the Edinburgh fringe for The Stand Comedy Club, this bleak philosopher is back asking the questions nobody else will. When did I last go outside? Am I already dead? How are you meant to maintain a happy marriage in the face of the unstoppable decay of everything that exists? This is stand-up comedy for people who are too tired to get angry.

‘Skilful humour from the very dark side’ – Sunday Times

‘beautifully argued misery and misanthropy’ – Chortle

‘Grumpiness has never been so smart or so funny’ – Sarah Millican

Jo D’Arcy

Jo D'ArcyWonderfully energetic and engaging with great gags and oodles of autobiographical hilarity, D’Arcy has been appearing at comedy clubs here, there and everywhere and found herself in the final heats of several comedy competitions in a very short time indeed. She recently completed a run at the Edinburgh fringe, making her presence felt as one of Northern England’s latest up-and-coming comedic talents.

‘Excellent’ – The Stand
