Monday 9th November

This month’s line-up is a real doozy, just take a look. It’s highly recommended if you like things and people and art and laughing, not to mention cake and mulled wine and cider and discounts on bottles of wine and generally feeling alive. If you have kids, leave them with a responsible adult and GTFO of the house. If you have parents, bring them, but please keep them in check.

Paul F Taylor

Paul F TaylorThe award winning Paul F Taylor is one of the UK’s most original and distinctive stand-up performers. His idiosyncratic humour fuses quirky offbeat one liners with surreal and observational flights of fancy to fantastical effect. Winner of the NATY New Act Of The Year for 2013, Paul’s persona of a lost bewildered fool sits perfectly alongside his gleefully madcap ideas. He’s also achieved notable success as a screen writer and actor. ‘Milk!’, which he co-wrote and starred in, was the ShortCom Jury Select Winner 2015, and was in the official selection in LOCO, Nashville, LOL, Shortwaves, Glasgow and London Short Film festivals. ‘Battlecock!’, which he also co-wrote and starred in, made it into the official selection at the BFI London Film Festival 2013. Paul performs for the UK’s most respected comedy clubs, as well as appearing extensively abroad to entertain crowds in Munich, Amsterdam, New York, Prague and Bucharest.

Sam and Tom

Sam and TomSam and Tom used to be on Nickelodeon until “the incident we can’t talk about”, happened. Now they’re trying to bring back the dizzying glory days they enjoyed as two eight-year-olds in 1997, only considerably taller but not much more mature. They are an anarchic double-hander made up of comedic wunderkinds Tom Burgess ‘coldly psychotic’ (Chortle.co.uk) and Sam Nicoresti ‘u suck’ (Lucas Bird, YouTube.com). In principle they’ll be rocking up to knock out some skits, argue amongst themselves, talk about their time as famed child stars and generally nail the gig. In a previous life, Sam and Tom! were part of award-winning sketch group Staple/face, winners of So You Think That’s Funny? in 2013. They were also Sheffield residents until Sam won an award and went to be a film director and Tom went to work for the BBC. But they’re back in Sheffield for just one night cos Rich misses them.

‘Hilarious’ – Forge Press
