This month at Square Hole two of our very favourite acts will be joining us to provide a sublimely clever, original and deeply funny evening of comedy. It’ll be the last gig until September, so join us for your fill of Square Hole (and baked goods) for the summer, and these fine specimens of chap will make it worth your while.
ALTRUISM IN BIRDS is the brand new show from Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival 2012 Best Show award winner Chris Stokes. After a year he’s glad to see the back of Chris is starting to find the funny again and, in this new show, expects to be ruminating on (among other things) the frustration of being locked in your own head with an unlikely alter-ego, the blossoming of new romance and seagulls.
‘Real talent… It takes some flair to mix script, tangents, conversation, heartbreak, and make it all look so effortless’ – The Skinny
‘Very gifted… Has the talent to one day have the world at his feet’ – The List
A highly distinctive performer and deft writer of finely crafted jokes, Peter Brush has clocked up an ever-increasing amount of respect in his first few years on the comedy circuit. With his slight bespectacled frame and scruffy hair, Brush unassumingly takes the stage before consummately conquering it with an arsenal of razor sharp quirky one-liners and peerlessly original routines, all delivered in an amusingly awkward fashion.
‘an imaginative use of language and obtuse angles of thought that produce distinctive and eclectic gags… his best lines are inspired’ – Steve Bennett, Chortle
‘Yorkshire’s answer to Woody Allen’ – Harrogate Advertiser
